OK, dann ist Franks Wetterdienst ein Fremdsystem? Ist ja nicht so klar für mich Greenhorn erkennbar, da man ihn "normal" anwählt. Aber das erklärt dann auch, daß z.B. der Weihnachtsbaum von Henning hier ohne Umbrüche ankam, die Wettermeldung aber nicht.

I am not sure but which selection did you made at the menu ?

Possible is only I = Inhalt (contents) or X = trennen (disconnect) I think any other input will disconnect (not sure)

Or does the weather-server disconnect without any selection from you ?

Russ, I had been on a business trip and just back.
I will have a look into my log file and try to give an explanation for the things which may had been happen. Maybe calling your “Kennungsgeber” may cause trouble.
Give me a minute to find the answer.

Hello Russ,
the US waether service provides forecasts as ASCII data located on the following public ftp server.
The filename contains a three digit number, which specifies a cluster/area in TX Texas.
We need to know the number for the area where your friend lives.

In the past there was a map containing the numbers ... the link is not valid anymore.

Hello Russ,
I added the the weather forecast for an area in TEXAS to the weatherservice, as you requested.
The weatherforecast can be printed by selecting atx as weather report.
I hope it works as expected.

bin ja erst seit kurzer Zeit dabei. Deinen Wetterservice finde ich echt klasse und rufe diesen fast täglich ab. Für den täglichen Abruf wäre es eine tolle Sache, wenn direkt auf den gewünschten Wetterbericht gesprungen werden könnte. Menü könnte dann vielleicht wie folgt sein: Inhalt = I Abbruch = X Direkteingabe = (Kürzel aus Inhalt)

Wie findest Du diesen Vorschlag?

Wie Sean schon geschrieben hat, nach der Kennungsgeberabfrage einfach den gewünschten Ländercode (z.B. WC für Niedersachsen) eingeben.
Der Menüausdruck ist optional.
