About a month ago my iTelex started sending messages to my teleprinter (Teletype model 32) about every hour, printing the following message "INTERNAL MESSAGE, (DATE AND TIME), LOOPBACK CALL FAILED CONSTANTLY. CHECK ROUTER CONFIGURATION. LOOPBACK TEST WAS SWITCHED OFF".
I had to power off my teletype to stop these messages. I can send and receive, and I can also send test messages to print from the iTelex program on my PC. On the Network settings page, I DO have the "Loopback test period (0 to switch off)" set to 0, but it does not matter. This prints almost every hour, even when the internet is unplugged from the iTelex boards so this is some internal thing going in within the local iTelex boards.
Has anyone else seen this, and are there any suggestions on how to fix this? I can send screenshots of the iTelex settings if anyone is interested.
Thanks
Mike from New Jersey

loopback call failed messages print every hour - cant turn off
Detlef and I found the answer. There seems to be a bug in the firmware that will not write the setting value for the loopback time setting to the EEprom consistently. I tried writing the "0" to disable this test from happening, but it would not transfer to the EEprom so the loopback error kept printing. FInally, I changed the value to a "5" did save, and the EEprom took it. Then I changed the value to a "0" and it took it. Then the loopback messages stopped printing! SUCCESS!!! There may have been a temporary glitch in my router that started the messages coming, but even after I reset the router the messages kept coming because I could not get a "0" back in the EEprom. All fixed now!!!
