Not got around to looking at the external interface yet but have managed to get a few items on my list to further test functionality.
I have manage to get some Triumph Adler ribbons from which work perfectly, a reel of 11/16ths tape and rolls of paper all from Ebay.

One new observation I have with this machine is that the paper tape reader will not read more than one character at a time. I have to press and release the read button for every character - whether just reading to the printer or duplicating tape between the reader and the punch.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Hi,

just press the black button a bit longer, until the reader has read the second or third character.

Does it help?

Michael

No, I tried that Michael.
The read light goes off no matter how long I hold the button down. I have to release and repress. I'll try the other machine tomorrow to see if it has the same behaviour.

Thanks

When the motor for the reader is not positioned correctly, or the LED for the transport hole in the tape ist broken / or the path to the sensor, it doesn' read the tape continusly.

Thanks. I'll take it apart at the weekend and investigate further.

Please also be aware that there are 6 more 10uf Tantalum capacitors on the "Line Interface" card that will need to be changed..... Otherwise you will be needing a new card when the capacitors fail short circuit and set fire to the interface card....

Don't ask me how I know this :)

Will do.

Not getting much time to spend on the unit at the moment I did manage to hold of an ex Royal Navy interface unit for the teleprinter - there were two for sale - did you get the other one ?

I have also managed to get hold of a couple of ADO8 plugs for the units too.

No, I didn't get the interface from "Rays-Tek" - the sale price was a little too high for my liking - I do know someone with a spare interface that I can borrow for test purposes.

The ADO8 plugs - I think these are for the "Test" interface connector on the back of the machine - I am unsure how much help this socket will be. Im still looking for information sources - may take a wander down to Yeovilton to see if the Fleet Air Arm Museum can help - this is where the Collingwood collection ended up.

Rays-Tek is VERY negotiable on his prices. I usually manage to get everything for half the listed price.
Mine was configured for 115V - but very easy to pop the cover off and convert to 240V.

An ADo8 connector at the back of the machine might be used for connecting a crypto device.
