T100a motor - how tight is too tight?

I'm working my way through the T100a that I found at Ham Radio 2023 - all is going well, there has been only one explosion

When removing the now expired lamp supression capacitor, I needed to turn the machine by hand, but found it very tight, I removed the drive motor, and I find that the motor is quite tight, question is, how tight is too tight?

Certainly needs more than a finger and thumb grip to turn it, which seems wrong compared to other motors, but this is the earliest model I have, so I do not know what is right.

Can anyone offer advice - I do not want to be destroying a good motor by missing something important.

Thanks
Sean

Hi Sean,

I think I have 5 or 6 working motors here from various T100 models.
I can test them tomorrow to see how easy or difficult they are to turn and will report back soon ....

Hello Sean,

I have just tested the 6 motors of the T100. Since I haven't had a T100a yet, there is no motor specifically from the T100a here. (Only T100 and T100S).
All motors were extremely easy to turn with just the index finger. Two of them even turned so easily that the axle moved on its own after being pushed.
Unfortunately, I suspect that there may be something wrong with your T-100 motor.
Kind regards.

Thanks for the information Franz.

I have tried lubricating the motor bearings, which has made the motor nice and free - it surprised me that the machine was able to work!
