Dear Folk,

Greetings. My name is Dale and I'm located in Canberra, Australia.

At the recent hamfair in Friedrichshafen I met Henning and Sean and purchased a set of i-telex boards. I built the remote control unit for the teleprinter and interfaced it to the TW39 circuit board and assembled the boards into a rack unit, it all appears to be working with my Kleinschmidt TT-4 teleprinter. I've tested the general operation by using Telnet and I can exchange messages between the teleprinter and a PC via Telnet. Attached is a photograph of the setup.

Next step is to get a i-telex number assigned and chat with other users. Hope to chat with you soon!

Regards

Dale

Willkommen an Bord,

Welcome aboard,

a warm welcome to the i-Telex circle. It's good to hear that your TT-4 works well with the new technology – old iron running on fresh current. Built to last, made for continuous operation. The fact that Telnet is already up and running is a solid first step – but real telex communication starts only once you have your own i-Telex number.

There are already several telex stations active on the Australian continent – you’re not alone. If all works as it should, i-Telex will soon once again achieve what the classic telex network once did: span the entire globe with reliable connections.

Best regards,
Wolfram

Hi Dale,

welcome here to the i-Telex community! Henning would also be the right person to assign a number to you. Maybe you contact him via PM in this forum.
I'm looking forward to share a message with you via telex.

Kind regards from Austria,
Wolfgang

G'day Dale:

Oh how nice that there will soon be another I-TELEX member here in Australia.
Currently we have: me 27387 here in Brisbane, 61001 Richard on Gold Coast, 25966 Nick in Sydney and occasionally 82123 Angus in Adelaide.

I would be most interested in your restoration of your terminal as I have one also for restoration.
We look forward to hearing from you...

Hi Everyone,

Thanks all for your comments and I'm looking forward to being active. I've applied for an i-telex number and will complete the setup when I have that.
Attached is the schematic of the remote control interface I built, it's very similar to the others that have been posted on the forum. The TTY machine has a variable resistor to adjust the line current, so that's not shown on the schematic. I run the TT4 TTY machine at 50 mA loop current.

Regards

Dale

Hi Dale,

Good to meet you at Friedrichschafen - I trust the rest of your stay in Europe went well.

Your new system looks great! Hopefully you will have a number registered soon, and we can exchange a few telex messages in the coming days.

Have fun, and chat soon

Cheers
Sean
