Cheetah Telex Terminal service manual?

Hello all, on my travels around England I managed to pick up a BT Cheetah, I have the machine, a modem, a box of paper and an operators manual.

Does anyone have a copy of the service manual? I suspect that there are some power supply related issues.

Has anyone managed to connect one of these to i-Telex?

Thanks
Sean

Hi Sean,

the Cheetah is simalar to a SEL/Lorenz Lo3000. Normally in the case shown on the manual with
integrated video display but also like the second one behind with a separated video display like the Lo3000.
I got a Cheetah a couple of years ago from Alf but have not powered it up yet.
Of course, as all British machines, it is fitted with a double current line interface.
As known, many Lo3000s "suffer" from bad capacitors in the power supply. :(

I have a basic manual of a Lo3000 and will try to scan it...if not somebody else already did it.

Thanks Henning, Hope you are well.

Yes, this double current thing is quite annoying - trust us Brits to do something completely different!

I will probably park this machine away while I get the 444 up to speed, but I couldn't resist a small power up session this evening.

Having taken the covers off, it does look a lot like a LO3000 internally - certainly from the looks of the CPU board, and the fact that the power supply module has far more German than English on it's labels....

So far the PSU will certainly need the Rifa 0.1uf mains suppression cap replaced :cake: :gun:

The back up battery for the machine is also dead - three very leaky nicad cells have started to leak.

I suspect that there is a problem with a supply rail or two (hopes) because the screen is just filled with unintelligible rubbish on power up.

So, not going to be a 5 minute repair.

I will start a suitable thread, perhaps to help compare the similarities with the LO3000.

Cheers
Sean
