V.10 Interface on the TeKaDe FS-220(Z)

Hello,

I have recently bought a TeKaDe FS-220(Z) with the impression that it would support V.10 out-of-the-box, as indicated on page 43 (31) of the manual [1]. However, when it arrived, it only seems to have the arcane ADo8 interface [2], for which I can't find much information; it seems to be something from the pre-T.A.E. era [3, 4]. Nevertheless, I would still like to use V.10 to connect the TTY to my computer (Gentoo Linux), by converting the well-documented signal (EIA-530) [5] to an RS-232 interface [6, 7], which can then be converted to U.S.B. with the CH340 (supports five-bit character encoding) chipset [8, 9].

Does anyone know how to use the V.10 interface with the FS-220 ? I was looking at [10]---the same vendor from whom I purchased the TTY---however I am very unsure at this point.

Thanks,
Ashley.

Almost likely the connector with ADo8 is a 40ma line current interface.

If I understand correctly, there are two physically different interfaces available of which you can plug in *one* in the FS220. Could it be that you just have the 'wrong' one in there?

In that case, will I need to remove the backplate and replace the ADo 8 card with [1] ? I still have yet to work out how to remove the backplate: I removed all the screws and it still won't budge a centimetre. I can't work out whether it's because it is rather old, and has thus "seized up", or I am doing something wrong.

I suppose so

Can't recall exactly, but did you start by taking the top off?

Damn - I was trying to remove the backplate, not the top. I can't imagine why there are external screws on the backplate, when it obviously needs to be unscrewed from the inside. The top comes off easily, and it seems like that V.10 card from BW-Schmitti will fit it perfectly. Cheers for the help, even if it did just involve removing four screws. Now the challenge is getting the top back on. ;-)

Thanks again,
Ashley.

The "V.10 card" that BW-Schmiti sells in his shop is actually a 40ma linecurrent card. Since this guy is an ordinary scrap dealer he
does not know what he is selling fortunately. ;)
Generally the V.10 interface is fitted with a DB-25 connector. Although there might be a few excecptions, but VERY few
that also use ADo8.

Isn't that exactly what he BW-Schmitti selling? https://bw-schmitti.de/produkt/ergaenzu ... nen-fs200/

Yes, that's a V.10 module on the photo, but others of the group also already received line current modules when
they ordered a V.10 card... ;)

 I've bought a keyboard from them, and a couple of manuals. The manuals were fine, the keyboard was nice to experiment with but would never had worked

YMMV, of course.
