Good morning! My i-Telex M32 was running great last night but this morning I have a small problem. Instead of printing I get just the sound of the relays clicking. I am assuming this is a Teletype issue but I really don't know :D
Hello everyone.
I have a T1000 and I think the power supply is wrong. If someone has the schematic, it would be of great help.
Also if someone tells me how to release the source, since I removed three screws, but I don't know how to remove the cable from the voltage outlets. thank you. :jajas:
Thus all users of the original i-Telex are called upon to enter the above addresses in the configuration under i-Telex network .
Now the complete story:
Some weeks ago a minor change of the server structure already has been made. The server at telexgateway.de, formerly operated by Klaus and Paul, had to be shut down. So I have installed a new cloud based server at the address tlnserv2.teleprinter.net with the same applications as on telexgateway.de before. And the address telexgateway.de was also redirected to that cloud server, so in fact this step needed no activities for the i-telex users.
The next step is: The old subscriber server under my control at the...
Hello everyone, I just registered an account on this forum. This forum is very informative, but I seem to be missing some search skills. I just bought a Philips pact 220, but I can't find any manuals, can anyone help me?Thanks a lot for everyone's help.
Sorry, been a bit quiet from the Hitchin Telex Office - Work and other things have interfered with the hobby time far too much over the past year.
I have a dilemma, there are a number of the SIemens TGN telex machines here - a loosely based version of the T1000, but being made for the Royal Navy, to a specification that is not ideal for telex use.
I have the Line interface card, and Machine Interface card in pictures below - obviously not single or double current loop Telex design - maybe some kind of serial interface?
There is little to no information available for these machines in the UK can any of the experts here suggest an identification?
For some odd reason, when my Lorenz Lo-15c receives the WRU symbol, it prints the Maltese Cross on the printer paper, but does not trigger the Answer back drum.
Sequence of events:
Pressing either the Here is button on the front of the keyboard, or pressing down on lever F triggers the Answer Back sequence.
This is a short video of the two levers at the base of the printer. One (A in the .pdf file) moves as it should. The other does nothing.
So, now where do I look as to why the other lever does nothing?
Hello. Apologies in advance for the relatively basic questions!
My FS220 and V.10 interface have been serving me well for the past six months or so (huge thanks to Sean for the V.10 card), however a potential problem has arisen in the past few days for no obvious reason. When I power down the FS220, the fault light briefly flashes (for about 200ms) before the device turns completely off. It powers back up again with no issue, and seems entirely operational, however I'm worried that this is abnormal, and I don't have the expertise or confidence to triage it further. Nothing has significantly changed since it started exhibiting this behaviour, aside from moving it from one desk to another in my house. It's rather light (about 50kg), so I can't imagine it got internally damaged from the move, however nor can I be certain that this behaviour wasn't present before moving it and I just never noticed.
Any diagnosis tips? The manual terms the light a collective fault indicator , suggesting...
As some of you may have found out the hard way, the little springs on the answer back drum are next to impossible to find.
I found this out the hard way when I launched one into orbit accidentally trying to reprogram my here is code.
I got to thinking, Surely I can use an o-ring for this.
mykin.com sells o-rings. So I ordered 50 of them. Standard AS528-016. 1/16 x 5/8 made of silicon.
Then installled them on the answer back drum.
Of course, nothing is as simple as it seems. :whack: First time, I had the tabs facing the wrong way so they missed the contact levers.
Then I had the code wrong. Third time's a charm. My here is reads 76470 jeff tx now.
Bending a small J-hook in a paper clip made inserting the tabs very easy. Lift the o-ring up out of the way, insert tab and let the o-ring back down.
And here is an easier version of the chart to read. Answer Back Coding.pdf
After about 5 years of down time, I finally got my Lo-15c clean and shiny again.
*grins* Hasn't looked this clean since 1963 probably.
So, next step, connect everything again and see if it works.
First off, there's an extra part laying on the bench. I have no idea what is or where it goes.
Mystery Part
Secondly, when I press the LT button on the Call Control Unit, it runs open. I noticed a open resistor by the selector wiring.
Disconnected
While taking a break on another project, I drew up a schematic diagram of the interconnection panel for the full size Lorenz cabinet for the Lo-15b and c models.
I have recently bought a TeKaDe FS-220(Z) with the impression that it would support V.10 out-of-the-box, as indicated on page 43 (31) of the manual . However, when it arrived, it only seems to have the arcane ADo8 interface , for which I can't find much information; it seems to be something from the pre-T.A.E. era . Nevertheless, I would still like to use V.10 to connect the TTY to my computer (Gentoo Linux), by converting the well-documented signal (EIA-530) to an RS-232 interface , which can then be converted to U.S.B. with the CH340 (supports five-bit character encoding) chipset .
Does anyone know how to use the V.10 interface with the FS-220 ? I was looking at ---the same vendor from whom I purchased the TTY---however I am very unsure at this point.
Seeing as there is some extra interest in the I-Telex System from other UK based Teleprinter owners, I have converted some of the original German Language manuals to English.
I claim absolutely no expertise in these translations - they were all carried out by machine, so may have some errors in translation. However, i have had a quick read through the documents, and I think the majority of the translation is good.
As time goes on I will collect any other I-Telex documents and convert them - they will all be uploaded in this thread.
If you are new to I-Telex, and have any questions, please feel free to ask - if I cannot answer them, I am sure that some of the other members can.
One of the items required for Telex operation, that normally is not needed for RTTY is known as a signalling unit (in the UK) or an FSG in Germany.
These are very rare in the UK, I have only ever seen a handful of them, and all but 1 are in a museum.
So, for the UK teleprinters a problem exists - what to do when you cannot find one of these units?
Fred has written FSG - O - FSG firmware for the TW 39 cards - will this also work for the Double Current cards?
Is there a way that the interface card could provide switching of a relay to control the power to the machine?
Or, a more ambitious project, using the attached document, is there a way that the signalling unit could be simplified and made using modern components?
In my Teletype 33ASR (Teleprint version) I have an unidentified PCB.
The card is marked BS292 on the sticker, on the back of the card there is a text ”TZ-197”
The Orange/White cable goes to Connector 1, cavity 6
The Grey ones goes to connector 12 on the motorcontroller BS263 and other places as well
The Purple/White one goes to connector 6 cavity14, connector 1 on the tape reader card, and some more places as well
The Blue cable goes to Connector 1, cavity 1
Can anyone Identify it, and possibly have a schematic, or identify the white the white component marked ROTA ELEKTRIK?
I'm happy to discover that there is a community which sees the beauty of old teleprinters.
I was donated two ( fjernskrivere in norwegian) teleprinters yesterday. One Siemens T.typ.37h (Fs Sk 2176/10) and one Siemens Fernschreiber 100 (L 22211-A100-G478).
The first thing that came into my mind, was to connect it to a Raspberry Pi with a homebrewed (or bought) serial->current loop interface, and make python program to fetch twitter/email/whatever and print it out.
After looking around on your webpage, i found out its more into it than that. Since its twenty years since i had german at school, i just understand pieces of the information.
I would be very thankfull if someone in the forum could kick start me on what my options are.
