Re: What do I need to start an I-Telex system
Completely right. Regarding Power Supply:
- one power supply is for "logic circuits", i.E. microcontrollers (5V), etc. and for relays (12V). Instead of AC, a 15V DV Supply would also work.
- the other supply uses an cascade multiplier to get 60 to 80 V DC for the "loop". Here AC is mandatory.
12 V AC input is at the bottom limit. Prefer 14 to 16 V.

Re: What do I need to start an I-Telex system
right. You might consider getting the SV Spezial (Power supply board) with "Messgerät"
the version has also a testing device for teleprinters and an "Eyeball Character" Printer.
For the transfrormer you should go with 15V / 1 A for each supply.
12V might give you a line voltage to low to operate reliably.
For your TP there is a Special Version to be operated without a FSG.
Furthermore you do not need the FAG200, any TW39 FSG will do.

Thanks Fred, Thanks Helge.
Ok, yes I was considering the SV Spezial - the extra features could be useful.
Re the FSG - Ok, so I can order a board that will drive the TP directly?, or is it better to find FSG (Spending far too much money at BW-S!)

Hi,
you should order the FSoFSG Version that does not need a FSG. You can switch at any time if you
get an FSG. Simply ask for the "Update-cable" when buying. You can then flash the controllers
on the cards by yourself. You may also order a spare processor already programmed for easy exchange.
If you are into rotary dialling you might consider finding an old FSG on eBay or ask here in the forum.
A Siemens NL or similar would be my pick if I would want one.
The FAG200 is nice but not very interesting. I own one, it lets you use a TP on a tone-line (ED1000),
gives you direct line and other features, but it's not the most userfrendly and unfortunately quite
expensive. I would not recommend getting one.

Re: What do I need to start an I-Telex system
I do not think I will be that worried about rotary dialling, if there is another solution I will use that.
Thanks for the comment regarding FAG200 - it did not look that interesting!
A better plan is forming

"A better plan is forming "
Take any time to plan what you really want - it's worth it. The better the system suits your needs, the more fun :-)
If there are any questions - just ask.
And please keep in mind that an IPV4 adress with enabled port forwarding is needed.

Re: What do I need to start an I-Telex system
I would have Siemens "N" Fernschaltgeräte for sale. If interested please send PN.
The model "N" is without local mode.
Like this:
http://old.fernschreibamt-hausneindorf. ... /fg_n.html
But brown colour.
To use i-Telex WITH a Fernschaltgerät (control unit) is always the best solution, since the idle current is only 4ma
versus full 40ma all the time with the modified software.

Re: What do I need to start an I-Telex system
Ok Henning, Makes a lot of sense.
My TP has ADo-8 connections - I guess it is simple to convert to ADo-4 - I think this will be needed if I am to use the Siemens FSG?

Re: What do I need to start an I-Telex system
Hi Sean,
you are right - you need to get / build an adapter from ADo8 to "Walzenstecker" (http://www.wasser.de/telefon-alt/datenb ... riff=w%206).
But maybe Henning can help you with that also. When you use this FSG your TP will also only use energy when needed,
as the FSG turns the TP off when no connection is up.
