Having got my T100 and FSG up and running I have turned my attention to a Creed 7E from 1959. Unfortunately, though, I don't have the correct 'FSG' for it. This type of machine used a British Post Office Unit Telex, No 1 which, like FSG's, are nowadays more rare than hen's teeth! Fortunately, I do have a Unit Telex No 6 from 1979, which, with a suitable link cable with a number of pins re-configured, operates the 7E... sort of.

It works quite happily in Local, and also receives calls from the T100 on iTlx but these calls don't clear down correctly. When trying to make a call out of the UT6 to iTlx the 7E motor starts but dial pulses, which I've proved are being generated, are not being connected to the Send wire. I've proved that iTlx works as I set the 7E to use keyboard dialling, and after a bit of 'poke and hope' self learning, I made calls from it to the T100 - hurrah!

So, back to the title of this post, I'm tracing out the dial relay wiring and the pre-dial relay wiring. Whoever designed these units with their multiple relays and complex contact arrangements, were ingenious indeed!

Back to the bench tomorrow, now, it's time for a glass of wine and some food!

David, Just a thought, try setting the card for rotary dial, and then try dialling a number with the dial button pressed. I have a nagging doubt in my mind that the Double Current Firmware has a small unresolved bug.
